Trinity Episcopal Church Divorce Ministry
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
--Jeremiah 29:11
We believe that a divorce can become an opportunity for a person to grow, nurtured by the ideas, understanding, and shared experiences of others. Our group exists to reach out to people in the crisis of divorce, and help to transform that crisis into an opportunity for personal and spiritual healing and growth.
Every Sunday evening since January 2000 (except for occasional holidays), this ministry has offered the opportunity for healing and support for divorced people throughout our community. Our unique niche is as an ongoing weekly group with a non-denominational spiritual focus, at no cost for course participation or child care. If child care is needed, please make arrangements through the Divorce Ministry facilitator. Information to contact her is below.
We offer an ever-evolving, eight-week sequence of topics dealing with the emotions, issues, and changing relationships that are common to most people’s divorce experience. These discussion topics are introduced through readings, videos, personal reflections, and the sharing of individual experiences.
We meet in the church library from 7 to 8:30 PM each Sunday. New people can join the group on any week, as the lessons are offered in an ongoing cycle. Many participants continue to attend through numerous course cycles, as they find that topics take on a new relevancy over time. We also host a potluck meal between each lesson cycle, and invite former participants and newcomers to join us.
It is a huge blessing in our lives to serve the Divorce Ministry at Trinity, to reach out to people with God’s message of hope and healing who are in crisis, and to have the heartfelt support of the Trinity congregation.
