Resources for Small Group Leaders

Lectionary Based
This Website focuses on bible studies utilizing the lectionary from the Book of Common Prayer.  I have no idea how orthodox this material is. If you want to check this out go to www.lectionarybiblestudy.org.  They offer to send a free sample and have a sample online. This might be a good option for Advent, Christmas, and Easter.

Serendipity House
There are a variety of resources that can be utilized from Serendipity for beginners and small groups that have been around for awhile. Check out these resources at serendipityhouse.com

Willow Creek
I have been utilizing Willow Creek training material and thus far they seem credible.  They too offer a range of material for small groups that are just beginning and for groups that have been around awhile.

Alpha Studies
If your group really enjoyed Alpha, there are additional studies that you can continue to use with your group. www.alpharesources.org

Christian Foundations Program
Verlene White shared this material with me.  It looks wonderful! It comes from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. They shared with me that this material would be best for someone who is pretty solid in his/her faith walk since the material is advanced.  For more information see www.tesm.edu/teem.

Renovare:
A wonderful small group process that challenges participants to grow through examining the five main Christian traditions.  They also have topical Bible studies. More information can be found at www.Renovare.org.

Book Study:

  • Spirituality for Everyday Living by Brian C. Taylor
This is a wonderful book that examines Benedictine Spirituality and makes it possible to live it for those of us that do not live in a monastery.  Includes reflection questions.

  • Holy Companions: Spiritual Practices from the Celtic Saints by Mary C. Earle and Sylvia Maddox
This book is just as the title implies.  Reflections and questions are included.

  • Ashes to Easter: Lenten Meditations by Robert F. Morneau
If you love poetry this book is for you. Morneau includes many poems that relate to the Easter season. Questions, reflections and Scripture readings are included.
